Manali's Tea Journey
When I was initially searching for opportunities to work on a farm I was hoping to find a business that was involved in all aspects of the industry and d:matcha was just that! From working in the tea fields to interacting with customers during tours to learning how to properly make matcha–there was so much to learn and experience.
As someone who was previously working in the food industry as a marketer it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to work so closely with tea. From learning about what goes into the organic fertilizer from Hiroki-San to learning about all the different tea fields from Daiki-San. It’s the best feeling to spend the day farming knowing everything is going into making some of the best tea, matcha, and other sweet treats.
The d:matcha team puts so much thought into everything they produce and it’s such an honor to learn from them and see how they continue to progress their business. I also greatly enjoyed watching sunsets in Wazuka, exploring the neighboring cities like Uji, and getting to know the team, especially Ria-Chan who shared all of her matcha knowledge with me!
I can’t thank the d:matcha team enough for putting together such a wonderful intern program and I’m looking forward to the day when I get to visit once again.
