Zenji Shoten (聖法院)
Nestled between tea plantations, Zenji Shoten is a temple located in Kizugawa that belongs to the Daigo sect of Shingon Buddhism.
As the name suggests, this temple enshrines the Buddhist deity that is believed to control one's wealth. This can also be attributed to the fact that copper used to produced in this part of Kizugawa during the Wado era (708-715). During this period, Nara was also still the capital of Japan and the copper produced was transported via Kizu River.
The temple also features a calm zen garden and a sculpture display by Matsui Keizo.
