      About this Sencha

Sencha Yabukita represents the classic style of Japanese green tea. Yabukita is the most widely cultivated tea variety in Japan (64%), prized for its balance, versatility, and ability to clearly express the character of its growing environment.

This 2025 first-flush sencha was harvested from our tea field beside Hakusan Shrine, just across the street from the d:matcha store. Unshaded and organically grown, it reflects the freshness of the season and the care taken in our fields and processing.

Whether you are new to Japanese tea or returning to a familiar favorite, this Sencha Yabukita offers a bright, honest expression of Kyoto tea for everyday enjoyment.

      Tasting Notes

This unshaded Sencha Yabukita showcases the fresh, vibrant character of Japan’s most classic tea cultivar. Bright green notes lead the cup, followed by a clean vegetal sweetness with hints of melon and cucumber.  Light astringency adds structure and refreshment, while bitterness remains gentle and well controlled, resulting in a smooth, crisp finish that feels distinctly springlike.
