A step-by-step guide to making the perfect cup of houjicha, Japanese roasted tea.

Houjicha Latte

For 1 serving.

Step 1 - Add your Tea

Put 4 to 6g of houjicha into your bowl.

Step 2 - Make a Paste

Add 30ml of hot water (80°C) and whisk in circular motions until smooth and clump-free, forming a thick paste. 

Step 3 - Make a foam

Add another 20ml of hot water (80°C) and whisk in a “W” motion until you achieve a creamy consistency and a fine foam appears.

Step 4 - Add Milk

For an iced latte, pour 100ml of your desired milk into a glass with ice. For a hot latte, steam 100ml of your desired milk into a mug. Add your matcha and enjoy!

Houjicha Loose Leaf

For 2 servings.

Step 1 - Add your tea

Put 2 tablespoons of houjicha loose leaf into your tea pot.

Step 2 - Add water

Pour 400ml of boiling water into the tea pot.

Step 3 - Steep

Allow the tea to steep for approximately 30 seconds.

Step 4 - Enjoy!

Serve and enjoy the aroma of your cozy houjicha tea!

Houjicha Chocolate Mix 

For 1 serving.

Step 1 - For 1 Serving

Put 2 tablespoons of houjicha chocolate mix into your bowl.

Step 2 - Make a Paste

Add 40 ml of hot water (80°C) and whisk/stir it.

Step 3 - Add Milk and Enjoy!

Add 100ml of milk to make latte. Sweeten to taste, then enjoy!
