A classic Kyoto cultivar valued for its elegant umami and vivid green color when processed into matcha. Rarely cultivated today, Komakage is treasured for premium-grade tencha.

At d:matcha, Komakage is currently being nurtured in our own fields in Yubune, Wazuka. The trees are just over 3 years old and not yet ready for commercial harvest. As they mature, Komakage will play a key role in expanding our Kyoto cultivar lineup, offering customers a deeper experience of Uji’s heritage.
