Yabukita Garden
This is one of our favorite spots on the farm. If you look out from the d:matcha cafe, this is the beautiful view you see stretching across the landscape. It is incredibly rewarding for us to look out while having a tea and see the direct results of our hard work in the fields. This garden is where we cultivate the classic Yabukita variety, which represent around 64% of all green tea in Japan.
Rice Patties
The rice we harvest here is a staple across the d:matcha experience. We use it in our cafe, our confectionery, and even your tour lunch! Be sure to try our Houjicha rice curry to taste the delicious rice we’ve harvested ourselves - many customers say it's the best rice they've ever had!
Hakusan Shrine
d:matcha is deeply committed to restoring and preserving the historical Hakusan Shrine as part of our local heritage. At the shrine, you can see the results of our preservation efforts, such as the Shimenawa (sacred straw rope) we installed this year and the Suzuo rope used for the shrine bells. This is also where we hang the emas of our kind adopt-a-tea-tree supporters.
Upper Fields
These upper tea fields are a spectacular spot to take in the views of the surrounding mountains and d:matcha's sprawling tea tree rows. Here, we cultivate a wide variety of cultivars, allowing us to produce diverse flavor profiles. This is also where we cultivate our Gyokuro using traditional "tana" shading.
Tea Moon
In the summer of 2023, d:matcha undertook a full renovation of an 80-year-old vacant house, re-opening it as a B&B accommodation. Inside, guests can experience traditional Japanese architecture: the warmth of the wood, the scent of the tatami mats, and the calm of carefully curated spaces. Beyond the windows, tea fields stretch out across the landscape.
