Enjoy sencha in our vintage style like wine

Even the same tea from the same field may taste differently every year due to the climate, soil and cultivation management.

As tea farmers, we would like everyone to enjoy the same brand with different years just like everyone enjoys wine.

Long history of matured tea

Tea right after harvesting has a strong fresh aroma. On the other hand, tea with a strong taste will taste better when stored in a cold space. This helps dissolve the bitterness of tea.

During the Edo period (1603~1868), General Tokugawa Ieyasu (1542~1616) always sealed new tea leaves in a huge tea pot. The tea pot was saved in a cool storage between the mountains and there he matured the tea. Every autumn he brought back the tea pots back to his castle to enjoy the sweet tastier tea.

This bundle set includes;

These three types of tea are from the same farm but different cultivation year.

Sencha Okumidori harvested in 2020年(From Somada district)×1

Sencha Okumidori harvested in 2021年(From Somada district)×1

Sencha Okumidori harvested in 2022年(From Somada district)×1

Self-cultivated tea during the spring (First flush) drinking comparison (three year difference)

We call tea harvested during the spring(late April to early May), Shincha (or new tea). Tea trees save their nutrients during the cold winter and during spring the nutrients reach out to the leaves. This is why tea harvested during the first flush is tasty.

This package set includes Shincha tea harvested in 2022, 2021 and 2020.

These three are made from the same tea farm and the same Okumidori brand. Please enjoy the yearly difference of each tea.

(1)Sencha from 2022 : Young leaves create a refreshing taste.

(2)Sencha from 2021 : Due to the frost last winter, this tea turned out bitter at first but maturing for a year helped the tea become well balanced and tasty.

(3)Sencha from 2020 : Thanks to the well climate, very tasty tea like we expected.
