Welcome to Tea Moon, our newly renovated Bed & Breakfast in the picturesque Kyoto countryside. Take in the tranquil tea fields of Wazuka and immerse yourself in the world of organic, single-origin Japanese tea.

Our Story

We opened Tea Moon, our Bed & Breakfast, to offer travelers the ultimate Japanese tea experience. Tea Moon was created by the founder of d:matcha, an acclaimed organic single-origin matcha brand, to teach travelers about tea farming and the beauty of the Kyoto region. We renovated this traditional Japanese house in 2023, conserving its historic exterior while adapting it for modern comfort, as part of our mission to revitalize our historic green tea town.

The Space

Tea Moon overlooks d:matcha’s organic tea fields and is next to the historic Hakusan Shrine. The d:matcha team renovated a traditional Japanese house with modern appliances and amenities in 2023, while keeping its historic exterior. Tea Moon guests can enjoy two bedrooms with western-style queen beds, a fully equipped kitchen, tatami mat sitting room, and Japanese-style soaking tub.

The experience

Guests who stay tea moon join are welcomed to join our beloved Tea Farm Tour & Tasting tour at not additional cost. Guest also have exclusive access to d:matcha’s multi-course farm-to-table meals in the price of your booking (see images for sample menus). All dishes showcase local farmers’ ingredients and can be adjusted for dietary preferences. Meals are served in the d:matcha cafe overlooking the rolling green tea fields. Breakfast includes eggs, sausages, homemade pastries, and organic single-origin tea. Tea themed lunch are served after the tour and multi-course dinners often include local vegetables, Omi wagyu beef, local deer steak, rice from the d:matcha farm, and desserts made from our tea plants. Sample menus are available in the images. All meals feature ingredients from local farmers and can be adjusted based on dietary restrictions.

For longer stays, d:matcha also offers cooking classes, tours of the local pottery town, and hiking/walking routes. Please reach out if you have any questions or want to add additional bookings. • 3pm Check-in: Pick up keys from d:matcha Kyoto cafe (〒619-1203 Gonose 142, Yubune Wazuka-cho, Souraku-gun Kyoto-fu).
• 11am Check-out
• Breakfast at 8:00am, Dinner at 6:00pm
• No smoking
• We welcome groups of 2-4 guests. Given the historical nature of the house, all guests must be over the age of 5. Please reach out with any questions.
• Free cancellation is available up to 14 days prior to the stay or within 24 hours of booking. After that, guests will forfeit the full cost of the stay. To cancel, email “info@dmatcha.com”
