Cultivated variety: Yabukita
Shading period: N/A
On the 9th of May we harvested our Sencha for 2020 from our organic tea fields in Yubune Hakusan Shrine, Wazuka, Kyoto. Yubune is located in the northest region of Wazuka. The mountanious terrain makes the weather 3℃ cooler than in central Wazuka, which causes the harvested tea to possess a much sweeter taste. These fields are also organic and pesticide-free.
Yubune is also a popular location for tea production as this area was formerly the main production site for competition-grade tea. The soil in the area is rich with nutrients, evident from the 500-year-old cedar trees that grace the borders of our tea fields.
If what you're looking for is Yabukita's signature fresh aroma, a visually pleasingly vibrant green, and a truly Japanese umami taste; this is the Sencha for you. Feel the calmness of Wazuka with each sip.
- 40 g / 1.41 oz. Approximately 10 servings; please note that each serving can be brewed up to three times using water of different temperature levels.
- Cultivation method: Pesticide-free.
- Seicha processing: To further emphasise the charm of our tea, d:matcha works closely with wholesalers during the processing phase. After the tea leaves are harvested, rolled, and dried, excess stem or powder are also carefully extracted. These tea leaves are gently reheated, but not to the point of roasting, to further highlight the aroma and taste of the tea.
