Cultivated variety: Gokou
Shading period: 15 days
Harvested from our organic fields in Yubune, Wazuka, d:matcha's signature Sencha Gokou tea leaves were covered for 15 days. These tea fields were cultivated without the use of pesticide or fungicide. Native to the Kyoto Prefecture, this variety is commonly used for the production of more premium products such as Gyokuro and Tencha for Matcha.
The flavour profile is one with a mild bitter taste, accompanied by a deep umami taste. Although best brewed at 60 degrees with soft water, even if you were to brew the tea at 100 degrees, the distinct taste of the tea is still prominent.

The First Flush, usually in Spring, is also known as the first harvest of the season. Only the youngest and most tender shoots are harvested. We hope you feel the tranquility of Wazuka with each sip.
- 40 g / 1.41 oz. Approximately 10 servings; please note that each serving can be brewed up to three times using water of different temperature levels.
- Cultivation method: Pesticide-free.
- Seicha processing: To further emphasise the charm of our tea, d:matcha works closely with wholesalers during the processing phase. After the tea leaves are harvested, rolled, and dried, excess stem or powder are also carefully extracted. These tea leaves are gently reheated, but not to the point of roasting, to further highlight the aroma and taste of the tea.
